The Main Hall
Our spacious well equipped hall seats upwards of 120. It offers a bright, eco- friendly environment for all occasions. There is also the facility to divide off one end of the hall to make it suitable for smaller gatherings. The hall has staging, stage lighting and a wireless PA system. The tables and chairs are stored in an easily accessible store cupboard next to the conference area. The underfloor heating and natural ventilation make it a very comfortable venue throughout the year, whilst the sprung floor makes it ideal for dancing. French windows, opening out onto a large patio adjoining the playing field, allow for overspill during Summer functions. We also have use of a small marquee which can be placed over the patio area adjacent to the French windows.
The kitchen is spacious and has ample work surfaces on which people can prepare food. It is very well lit, making it a pleasant environment in which to work. It is fully equipped with a range cooker, fridge/freezer, a professional dishwasher, washing machine, sinks, cutlery, crockery and tea towels. There is sufficient crockery and cutlery to serve in excess of 120 people. At one end of the kitchen a serving hatch to the main hall allows food to be served efficiently.
The bar is adjacent to the main hall and has a serving hatch which can be closed when the bar is not in use. It is equipped with ample glasses in which wines and beers can be served. It is linked to the kitchen where ice for drinks can be stored and glasses can be cleaned in the dishwasher. There is sufficient storage space beneath the bar to place a barrel of beer and a pump is already in place with which to serve the beer. A small sink at the bar can be used to clean glasses.
The main hall and the conference room each have access to toilets, both areas having disabled access and baby changing facilities. The hall also has a range of cleaning equipment which is stored in a locked cupboard near the kitchen and also a vacuum cleaner, which is kept near the main entrance in one of the cloakrooms.
Green in the Green
The playing field, which is open to the general public, has a wide range of play equipment. It was funded by The People”s Millions as a part of Wanstrow children”s “Green in The Green” campaign to win the money. There is a five-a-side football pitch with goals and basketball nets.Behind one set of goalposts is a recently-constructed boules pitch. At the far end of the playing field there is a set of fitness equipment which can be used by adults and young people. In 2012 the footpath was decorated with willow sculptures which in time will look spectacular.
