Don’t miss it! Your chance to have a slap up brunch cooked for you at the village hall. Meet your friends, bring your children and grandchildren. All taking place in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of your community building. What better way to spend a winter morning, whatever the weather?
More details nearer the time.
Sunday 2nd December * 10.30 am to 2.30 pm
It wasn’t the best of weather, but the villagers turned out to enjoy the Fair. Stallholders were happy with sales, and two even wanted to book in advance for next year. Homebase came up trumps with a cornucopia of plants to sell and the King William IV pub provided a generous Sunday lunch voucher for two to add to the excellent collection of prizes for the raffle. These included boxes of wine.
People enjoyed the baked potato lunch and mince pies and the chance to met neighbours for a chat. Children had fun making Christmas cards.
The Village Hall had a Christmas tree put up outside – and decorated – in time for the event.
The Trustees of Wanstrow Village Hall have had Solar Photo-Voltaic panels installed on the Village Hall roof for the microgeneration of electricity. Have you noticed where they are?
We believe this will help the efficient and cost effective running of the Hall and enable us to keep hire fees low for the community at a time when energy prices are increasing. Our meter shows that we are already generating some electricity even in the depths of winter.
Thanks are due to all the people who expressed their support for the project.
We did not get the grant funding that we applied for, but in the end decided to fund the project out of our reserves. It was really a ‘now or never’ situation, because in March 2019 the Government will end the Feed in Tariff payments. Any subsequent installations will not qualify for the payments and so there is currently huge demand for installations.
Now that we are up and running, the next thing we need is lots of winter sunshine!
We are now taking bookings for weddings throughout the summer and autumn of 2019. Please see our Weddings page for details and to view or book our hall for your special day.
