In the interests of the environment and in line with the Government’s commitment to the reduction of climate change, the Trustees of Wanstrow Village Hall, have had Solar Photo Voltaic panels installed on the Village Hall roof for the microgeneration of electricity. We believe this will help the efficient and cost effective running of the Hall and enable the Trustees to keep hire fees low for the community at a time when energy prices are increasing.
Thanks are due to people who expressed their support for the project.
We did not get the grant funding that we applied for, but in the end decided to fund the project out of our reserves. It was really a ‘now or never’ situation, the reason being that in March 2019 the Government will end the Feed in Tariff payments. Any subsequent installations will not qualify for the payments and so there is currently huge demand for installations.
Now that we are up and running, the next thing we need is lots of autumn and winter sunshine!
